Sacramento Contemporary Dance Theatre (SCDT) presents its second concert, “Sign of Life”
to benefit the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.
April 27, 2016 – Sacramento, CA – American Sign Language meets Contemporary dance as SCDT professionals pour their souls into new pieces meshing the beauty of sign language with the language of dance. “Sign of Life” is a beautiful artistic communication bringing awareness and benefitting the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.
SCDT’s concert will support “Camp Grizzly Leadership Camp for Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Koda Youth”. Sign language interpreters will be provided for all three shows. This spectacular event will take place at the Jill Solberg Performing ArtsTheatre in Folsom on Friday, June 3rd at 7:30PM and Saturday, June 4th at 2:00 and 7:30PM.
SCDT’s inaugural debut performance "Resilience" was a tremendous success and demonstrated a celebration of life, as well as shined a light on the struggles and lives of those battling cancer. The event raised over $12, 000 as a charity fundraiser for UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Montoya has assembled some of the best professional artists in the region stating, “We love Sacramento and want to support local entities within our community by creating relevant work that will educate and open the eyes of new audiences to the power of dance when it is used collaboratively to make a change.
We ask that you join us and be a part of our latest project, “Sign of Life” and help us create this inspirational and thought-provoking work of movement and transformance!”
