Through our dedication to the creative community, we seek to empower a network of engaged artists. Following this philosophy, Sacramento Contemporary Dance Theatre in partnership with the Samantics Chorus presented EMBODIMENT in Paradisum, a repertoire of music and movement composed by Sam Schieber and choreographed by Jacob Gutierrez Montoya. With 42 vocalist and 28 dancers, the cast of 70 performing artists brought to life a visual and audible feast for the eyes and ears.
"It was a visual feast, and as the performance progressed, we were treated to one unique choreographic “dish” after another. It felt like a once-in-a-lifetime event: a modern requiem with beauty, drama and energy, completely new, but drawing on many musical traditions and married with a non-stop dance performance that was exciting, boldly innovative, full of grace, power and emotion and simply kaleidoscopic. It’s what happens when two masters of creativity decide to do something that has never been done before, with the help of nearly one hundred committed vocal and dance artists. I watched and heard it all, and it left me breathless." ~Dick Frantzreb, Capital Region Performance Review
