BRIANNA ASHLEY
Brianna began her dance journey at the age of 9, in Sacramento, CA where she was born and raised. Her dance studies began in contemporary, and expanded her training in the styles of ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical and tap, with her biggest strength in contemporary. Throughout her training she has trained at The Joffrey Ballet School, Master Ballet Academy and Hawkins School of Performing Arts. If it had not been for her mother, who sacrificed so much to make sure Brianna could attend dance class, she would not be where she is today.
Brianna has also worked professionally in the entertainment industry for companies such as IVIVVA, PacSun, Enchanted Dancewear, Netflix and CBS, to name a few. In 2017, she was invited to perform at the Sacramento Teen Center’s Charity Gala. In her time competing, she won first overall with her contemporary solo at Revolution Dance Competition in Fresno, CA and Westminster, CO and placed second overall at Leap Dance Competition in Sacramento.
She joined SCDT in 2019 and had immediately fell in love with everything they stand for. Being a company member with Sacramento Contemporary Dance Theatre has been an incredible experience for Brianna, as she feels she is making an impact in her community through the art of dance. She enjoys knowing there is intention behind every movement, from telling someone’s story, to raising awareness of social injustice. She not only feels so inspired by the other dancers, but by artistic Director Jacob Gutiérrez Montoya, who is her biggest inspiration.
