​JACOB GUTIERREZ MONTOYA, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Sacramento Contemporary Dance Theatre's founder and artistic director, Jacob Gutierrez Montoya, is a highly sought after Master Teacher and internationally awarded choreographer.  Raised in Sacramento, Jacob participated in Regional Arts programs from a young age, inspiring him to further his education in dance at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.  Jacob has danced professionally throughout the world at festivals, competitions and shows with Las Vegas Contemporary Dance Theatre and local Sacramento dance and theater companies.  Currently, he is the artistic director for the award winning Hawkins Contemporary Jazz Company, a pre-professional youth company based in Folsom, California. In addition, providing instruction and choreography for local school districts and local/national youth companies has earned him Educator of the Year.  Jacob's students not only have joined professional dance and theater companies around the world, but they have become champions for giving back in their communities as he has fostered the notion that we can all make a difference.  Jacob's moving choreography has received top honors in choreography festivals and has been adapted for use in international film and television programming.  Jacob is grateful for the loving support of his family, his husband Elio, and their children Juliet and Tiburon.
