SAMI AXELSON
From the age of three, Sami Axelson has loved dance. Whether it is at the studio, on the stage or just around the house, you can always find her dancing. Sami started out at Tricks Gymnastics taking ballet, tap, and jazz before moving to the Hawkins School of Performing Arts. At Hawkins, she continued to study multiple styles of dance and joined the Hawkins Contemporary Jazz Company under the direction of Jacob Gutierrez Montoya. During her time with HCJC, Sami learned from celebrities such as tWitch, Travis Wall, Sonya Tayeh, and Nick Lazzarini.
Sami's main passion, Musical theatre, has had her participating in many community theatre productions from the age of four. Some of her highlights include working with River City Theatre Company in Newsies, West Side Story, The Addams Family, and Once on this Island. There is nothing Sami loves more than being on a stage, and she has enjoyed performing for many Broadway notables such as Nico DeJesus, and Joshua Burrage.
Sami is currently a junior at Vista del Lago High School in Folsom, California. Her future goal is to major in Musical Theatre in college. When she isn’t at the studio or in rehearsal, you can find Sami spending time with her family, reading, or drawing. She is very grateful to Jacob Gutierrez Montoya for his continued support and for giving her the opportunity be a part of Sacramento Contemporary Dance Theatre. Sami would also like to thank her family, Ron Cisneros, Terri Taylor, Erin Gabriele, and Kyle Hadley for pushing her to be her best self and for all their love and support.
