FAITH MORENO PETTERLE
Faith Petterle is a sophomore at Ponderosa High School and is 15 years old. Faith was born in Sacramento and was raised in Shingle Springs her whole life. She first started dancing when she was 3 at a very small studio and slowly took more hours on as she grew. She first joined a competition team when she was 10 and received several awards for her team’s dances in contemporary, lyrical, jazz, tap, hip-hop, and acrobatics. During conventions, faith has received scholarships from 24/7 Dance Convention and New York City Dance Alliance. She has learned from Teddy Tedholm, Mike Esperanza, Marguerite Derricks, and attended several other master classes to improve her trade. She continues to train in ballet, modern, contemporary, and jazz for several hours a week.
Faith is a full time student as well by working to keep her 4.0 GPA and be in the top 3% of her class. She is preparing for her year as Editor In Chief next year for yearbook as well. She hopes to attend UCLA or Boston College during her college years and to pursue kinesiology or engineering, while minoring in journalism. She plans to take a summer program at Stanford later this summer to continue her science path. However, she hopes to keep dance in her life anyway possible.
Dance has acted a light in her life for as long as she can remember. Dance has given her things to look forward too, a way to express herself, and a wonderful community to surround herself with. This is her first year being apart of Sacramento Contemporary Dance Theatre. During this time when there is so many things to address in our community, Faith knew being able to bring awareness to them with dance was an opportunity she could not pass up. She is so glad she has been given the chance to help her community and grow as a dancer even more.
