Shyla Ignacio, born and raised in Folsom, CA is a 17 year old dancer. Starting at the age of 4, she started her journey with dance training in ballet. At the age of 7 she continued and furthered her dance training at Hawkins School of Performing Arts. Taking classes in ballet, jazz, contemporary, and hip hop, Shyla showed her dedication to dance through many hours of rehearsing, practicing, and performing. Through many competitions and conventions Shyla has proven her hard work with various awards and recognitions from many well-known choreographers. She has gained further experience and knowledge by learning from amazing choreographers such as Teddy Tedholm, Mike Esperanza, Marguerite Derricks, and many more. Shyla has performed at many events raising money and awareness for various causes and continues to do this through Sacramento Contemporary Dance Theater. Shyla has worked with Artistic Director Jacob Gutierrez-Montoya for several years and continues to do so with this extraordinary group of dancers.
