​MAYA CARLSON

Maya Carlson is a 16 year old dancer born in Monterey, California and raised in El Dorado Hills, California. Maya has been dancing for 6 years, starting with ballet at the age of 11. Since then, she has trained in jazz, modern, and contemporary. She has participated in many conventions, competitions, and summer intensives. She joined Jacob’s Hawkins Contemporary Jazz company in 2020. Through this she has been a part of multiple shows and video projects. She has participated in master classes with many choreographers such as Marguerite Derricks and more. Maya joined SCDT in January of 2021. She loves being apart of Sacramento Contemporary Dance Theatre because of the welcoming and accepting environment the company brings. She also is grateful that she is able to bring awareness to certain issues in our society today. Maya is excited to continue dancing with Sacramento Contemporary Dance Theatre and looks forward to new projects and the future of her dance career.
